A program of the Newport Beach Public Library, Project Adult Literacy (PAL) provides free literacy instruction, one‑on‑one tutoring and small group classes in basic English to adults who live or work in the Newport Beach area. Project Adult Literacy is driven by the belief that literacy changes lives. Our dedicated volunteer tutors help learners:

• Improve reading, writing, and communication skills.

• Navigate healthcare and read prescriptions safely.

• Pursue a high school diploma or college degree.

• Gain the confidence to help children with homework.
