About the Balboa Branch Library
The Balboa Branch was the first municipal library formally established by Newport Beach City Council at a cost of $7,000 and with a budget of $75 per month. It served as the main library branch for the City of Newport Beach from 1929 to 1980 (more information).
In addition to serving as a neighborhood library with children's programs, computers, books, magazines, DVDs and more, the Balboa Branch Library is also home to the Newport Beach Historical Society.
The Balboa Branch is due to be replaced in 2025. Please take the survey and let us know what you would like to see in the new branch.
