Teen Summer Reading Program

Teen Summer Reading Program

Incoming 7th-12th graders can participate in the Teen Summer Reading Program June 7 to August 2!

This summer, join other teens and Level Up at the Library!
From Book Club to a Zine Exchange and more, the library is a space to connect and have fun. A reading challenge invites teens to read and earn prizes.

1. Sign up on Beanstack, then pop by the Library to snag a FREE book (yep, yours to keep!).

 2. Share your book reviews to rack up entries for weekly $15 gift card giveaways. More reviews = more chances!

 3. Read 600+ minutes this summer to score a goodie bag and a chance to win a $75 Fashion Island gift card!

Teen Summer Zine Swap

Wed, 8/6, 7-8 pm, Central Library

Join us for our first Teen Summer Zine Swap Party, especially for teen participants of our Summer Zine Program! Beginning June 7, pick up a Zine Creation Packet at your local library. Using the packet, create a zine and return your finished product by July 18 to receive five free black and white copies of your zine. Attend the swap party to share and trade your zine with other teens and grab some snacks. It's a great way to meet new friends and start a zine collection of your own! Incoming 7th-12th graders.

Teen Volunteer Appreciation

Wednesday, 8/13, 7-8 pm, Central Library

Our annual Summer Reading Program wouldn't be the same without the help of our great teen volunteers! If you're a teen that volunteered this summer, we want to celebrate you by inviting you to our Volunteer Appreciation Party. There will be food, music, games, and special recognition for our teens who logged the most hours of service.

Teen Volunteer Orientation

Wednesday, 8/27, 7-8 pm, Central Library

Are you interested in being a Teen Volunteer at the Newport Beach Public Library for the 2025/2026 school year? Please join us as we review the youth volunteer application process and discuss volunteer requirements and guidelines for Book Reviewers, Department Assistants, and members of our Young Adult Advisory Council (YAAC).
