Adults are invited to participate in the Adult Summer Reading Program:  This Summer, Level Up Your Reading Time!

 
1. Register online with Beanstack and you will earn a prize book that you can pick up at any NBPL location (while supplies last).

2. Once registered, begin tracking every 20 minutes of reading or listening (books, eBooks, books on CD, eAudiobooks, magazines, eMagazines, newspapers, and eNewpapers are all fair game!).

3. Every 100 minutes read earns you an entry ticket into the grand prize drawing at the end of the program, with the chance to earn 6 entries for 600 minutes read and a bonus entry for completing the program!

Weekly Prize Drawings

Submit book reviews and complete activities for entries into weekly prize drawings! Winners will receive a $15 gift card!

Grand Prize Drawing

The Grand Prize Drawing will be run on Monday, August 4. The winner will receive a $75 Fashion Island gift card!

 Special Events

Saturday, 6/7, all locations

Kick off your summer of leveling up your reading time! Visit to play games, pick up your prize book, and enter the Opening Day Drawing. All participants who join the Adult Summer Reading Challenge on Beanstack on June 7 will be eligible. Offline participants may register in person on June 7 to enter. 

6/7-7/18, All locations

Looking to express your creativity this summer? Starting June 7, you're invited to stop by your local NBPL library to pick up a free Zine Creation Packet. Each packet contains paper and a marker/brush pen for you to use to create your zine. Feel free to add your own photos, drawings, or magazine clippings.

Return your finished zine to the library by July 18 to receive five free black and white copies of your zine to share with your friends or other zine lovers. Participants can pick up their original zine plus five copies starting Tuesday, July 5. Your zine will be sent to the location you check on your submission form. If no location is selected, pickup will be at Central. Bonus to celebrate your creativity, join us for a Zine Share!

 Additional information:

You retain all rights to your own work. The library will only make and distribute copies of your zine for this event. To respect your privacy, your name will not be attached to your zine by the library. We are collecting names via submission form to facilitate zine pickup only. We will do our best to return your original work to you intact, but there’s always the chance they could get bent or torn.

Join other readers to discuss your favorite summer reads! Get book recommendations, view and share zines, enter prize drawings, and enjoy an evening of literary fun. Ages 18+.

Summer Reading Program events are generously funded by the Friends of the Library and the Newport Beach Public Library Foundation. Space is first come, first seated, and limited by room capacity. Materials available while supplies last. Registration not required unless stated in program description.
