Nature in Your Backyard - CANCELED

Learning to Garden, Learning from Nature with Ron Vanderhoff, Roger's Gardens

Celebrate Earth Day by attending this special program in a new series: Nature in Your Backyard!

Presented by Orange County Chapter, CA Native Plant Society

www.occnps.org

Speaker: Ron Vanderhoff, General Manager, Roger's Gardens

This fully illustrated program is about being a better gardener, by being a keen observer of how nature takes care of her own plants in her own wild places. If we look carefully and pay close attention, our local natural areas provide lessons about how we might approach our more domestic gardens. This program will show native plant communities and habitats from throughout Orange County with expert discussion of such 'garden' topics as slope, aspect, water (and its seasonality), exposure, soil, nutrients, insect associations and much more. You will be guided through the varied habitats of Orange County and gain an understanding of why certain plants grow in certain places and not others.

Ron is an Orange County horticulture leader, native plant expert and wildlands ecologist. He is a director of The CA Native Plant Society in Orange County, the Vice President of Roger’s Gardens and sits on several natural history and horticulture advisory and science committees.
