Summer Reading Begins!

  • Date: 06/06/2026

This is your invitation to make it a summer for the books! The Newport Beach Public Library invites readers of all ages to take part in a special Citywide Summer Reading Program, June 6-August 1.

Track your reading, earn prizes, and enjoy free programs and activities designed to bring families and community members together all summer long. Join the challenge everyone will be talking about as our community comes together with one bold goal: 1 million minutes of reading this summer. It’s more than a reading challenge. It’s a summer of smart and a summer of fun!

Early registration begins May 26 on Beanstack.

How the Program Works

  • Reading is self-paced and flexible
  • Participants read anything they like
  • Kids earn prizes at regular milestones
  • Everyone contributes to the citywide reading goal of 1,000,000 minutes

How to Participate

  • Download the Beanstack* mobile app or pick up a game sheet. (Note: Paper game sheets for kids will be available to pick up beginning Saturday, June 6th.)
  • Log minutes to earn prizes.
