"Newport Beach: Glimpses of the Past" special exhibition from Sherman Library opens

Sherman Library, in conjunction with the Newport Beach City Arts Commission, presents Newport Beach: Glimpses of the Past, a special exhibition of historic photographs and other items from the archives of Sherman Library, on display at the Newport Beach Central Library gallery.

For over fifty years Sherman Library has worked to preserve the history of Newport Beach and surrounding communities. The historic photographs in Newport Beach: Glimpses of the Past represent a small fraction of the tens of thousands of photographs, documents, and maps relating to Newport Beach in Sherman Library's collections.

Sherman Library, located in Corona del Mar, is a historical research library specializing in the history of the Pacific Southwest – including southern California, Arizona, northern Mexico and adjoining areas. The Library’s collections document the development of the region through books, archival collections, photographs, maps, aerial photographs, and newspapers.  The Library is open to the public.

The exhibition will be on display September 9 through November 1, 2019, during library operating hours.
