Literacy Services

Project Adult Literacy is located on the lower level of the Central Library, and provides services for adults seeking to improve their English reading and writing skills

Adam Chandler CANCELED

CANCELED

 As a precaution to help limit the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) as advised by public health officials, all programs, including story times at Central and the branches are canceled through the end of March.  Staff, with the guidance of City’s Emergency Response team, the California Department of Public Health and the Orange County Health Agency, will re-assess the situation at the end of the month.

Drive Thru Dreams coverTake a fascinating road-trip through the heart of America's fast-food kingdom with author Adam Chandler.  From White Castle, the first fast food chain, to Wendy’s most viral tweet of all time, Chandler will talk about fast food history, people and stories that inspired his book, In Drive-Thru Dreams, and the inseparable link between fast food and American life for the past century.

Adam Chandler is a writer based in Brooklyn, New York. A former staff writer at The Atlantic, his work has also appeared in The New York TimesThe Wall Street JournalThe Washington Post, Slate, New York MagazineTexas Monthly, EsquireTIME, and elsewhere.

This program is funded by generous donations from the Friends of the Library.   

Admission is free. Seating is limited. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
