Imagine reading a book that is banned from most world prisons. You might be thinking to
yourself, why would prisons ban something as simple as a book? Something as such sounds
impossible, but it has already happened. The 48 Laws of Power is a novel deemed so powerful
that it is said to have made prisoners so shrewd that they were able to tempt guards and obtain
some sort of freedom. This book can easily be classified as one that hits you with the truth of
reality, and opens your perspective on ways that you can obtain whatever you want. There are
48 ways to do so, each holding enough power to persuade any mind.
I chose to read this novel because as I aspire to become a lawyer someday, I understand that
the art of persuasion is one that needs to be mastered to succeed. With that in mind, I came
across this novel, which also blew up on TikTok. I am glad I took a chance on this novel
because it has completely reshaped the way I act, talk, and present myself in front of a variety
of people. Furthermore, it teaches many life lessons and gives lots of historical examples of the
laws being used, both to succession and to failure as well. With these examples being so
unique, pretty much every situation one can be put in is provided for readers to absorb the
information and learn from it.
Since this book is so diverse in the information provided, it never really gets boring. However, I
would say that the only downside for some teens might be the length of the book, as it is almost
500 pages long. Furthermore, the information within the novel requires a lot of deep thinking in
order to correctly absorb it. Also, the true effect of the novel cannot be felt unless one actively
practices what the book is teaching, If you approach the book with a shallow mind, you’ll find the
information confusing and hard to follow. That is why it is so important to read this book with an
open mind, capable of analyzing complex information to use it for your own good.
In conclusion, I highly recommend this book to any teen looking to enhance the way they
approach life in general. If you are looking for ways to get what you want, whether it be
materialistic or not, this book is for you. If you are willing to absorb the information to the point
where you are able to incorporate the laws into your daily life, you will find this novel fruitful
beyond compare. Not only is the information you learn going to get you to obtain what you
please, but it is also going to leave you capable of reading through every type of person you
encounter in life. Their actions and body language will be predictable, and your new-found
knowledge will indubitably leave you feeling powerful. Because it is a bit long, I would rate this
book a 4.5/5 stars.
