It’s time to get into the Spooky Halloween spirit with a Halloween themed short story and art program! We are super excited to see what you create!
Who can participate in the Program?
All Tweens and Teens grades 5th through 12th are welcome.
How do I start creating?
You may select one of the creative writing prompts provided or write free-form.
How do I enter?
Email all submissions to email@example.com no later than Saturday, November 7th, 2020.
Please provide your name, contact information, title of the work, and word count at the top of the first page. Short story submissions should be between 500-2000 words. Acceptable submissions include photos of your writing, drawings, paintings, sculptures or creations.
You can submit up to six works for entries into our drawing. Entries must be original content created by the person submitting the entry.
*By submitting your work you give Newport Beach Public Library authorization to share your work on our social media and Spooktacular webpage for other NBPL Teens to enjoy.
Can I win a prize?
Everyone who participates in our Spooktacular Program will be entered into a drawing, and three lucky Teens will each receive a $25 gift card to Amazon!
How do I see what other Teens have submitted?
All of the art and short stories are on our Spooktacular Submissions page. While we encourage stories/art to have spooky/horror elements, overly graphic or mature content will not be shared on the library website. Please try to keep submissions family-friendly.
If you have any questions please let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org. We’re looking forward to seeing what all of you come up with!
