LinkedIn has purchased Lynda.com and is now LinkedIn Learning. LinkedIn will be requiring library patrons to create a LinkedIn account in order to access the database. The Newport Beach Public Library has deep concerns regarding privacy issues and the security of patron data. The State of California has very strict laws regarding confidentiality and the library respects these mandates.

Representatives from libraries and library organizations from around the country have been meeting with LinkedIn to discuss these concerns, but unfortunately a resolution has not yet presented itself. While the Newport Beach Public Library hopes to be able to maintain access to LinkedIn Learning for our patrons, unless these concerns can be adequately addressed, we will have no other option but to cancel our subscription. We may lose access after July 27, 2019.
