Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is the new catalog available now?
A: Yes, the new catalog system is up and running as of July 13. Log into My Account using your library card number and the password 9999 for the first time. Then you can change the password to your own unique set of letters and numbers. Be sure to "bookmark" the new site for faster future access.
Q: Why are you changing catalog systems?
A: Our current system is outdated, no longer updated by our vendor, and is at the end of its useful life. Moving to a new system will allow the library to utilize technological advancements and customer service enhancements that have occurred over the past 12 years since migrating to our current system. These features include text message notifications, useful integration of downloadable materials and physical materials, and mobile app functionality.
Q: What are some of the new catalog features?
A: The new catalog system retains the features that customers currently enjoy, such as browsing the collection, placing holds, managing accounts, and creating reading lists. It also integrates well with Overdrive downloadable eBooks and eAudiobooks and offers additional filtering options to expedite and limit search results. Communication options such as text messaging and automatic renewals when items are not on hold by other customers are additional features in the new system. A new Mobile App was introduced in July 2020.
Q: Will my holds transfer from the old catalog?
A: Yes! You will not lose your place in line for your holds.
Q: Will I still be able to freeze my holds?
A: Yes, and the new system will allow you to suspend them for a designated period of time by inputting start and end dates.
Q: Will I be able to save my Reading History in the new catalog?
A: Yes, you can opt-in to save your Reading History, and anything you check out on the new system will be saved.
Q: Will my Saved Searches transfer?
A: Unfortunately, no, but you can set up new Saved Searches in the new system.
It works using an RSS feed. Install a feed reader extension installed on your web browser. In the new catalog, run a search. Try to be as specific as possible. When you are done, click on the blue bar at the top that shows the number of results found and has the orange RSS symbol. Copy the URL that appears, and then open up your RSS feeder and paste it in. The RSS feeder will then notify you when a new item is added by that author.
Q. Does the new catalog have a Mobile App?
