Central and Mariners Libraries have reopened Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with modified services and hours. Balboa is open for curbside services Monday - Saturday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Corona del Mar is open for curbside services Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. All programs and storytimes are currently cancelled until further notice.

When will the library reopen?

The Central and Mariners Libraries are open to the public with modified hours, services, and limited seating. The Corona del Mar Branch and the Balboa Branch will remain closed due to limited space for social distancing and staffing considerations.  Those two branches will continue to offer Curbside Service.

Mariners Library

What services are available at the Central and Mariners Libraries?

Services include allowing patrons to browse the shelves, check out materials, and manage accounts.  A limited number of public computers are available to ensure social distancing. Limited seating is available for studying and research. At Central, the Study Rooms are available for check out.  

What safety guidelines are in place?  

Following the State guidelines for the New Blueprint for Safer Economy Plan, the Library has restarted in-person services incrementally. Face masks completely covering both nose and mouth will be required for both staff and the public entering the Library.

Until restrictions on gatherings are lifted program spaces will be prohibited. 

In accordance with guidelines from the State of California, Newport Beach Public Library is implementing a variety of precautions to make the environment as safe as possible for staff and the public upon reopening.  The Central and Mariners Libraries are equipped with Plexiglass barriers at public service desks, social distancing demarcation signage, and hand-sanitizers. Seating is limited and spaced out to ensure social distancing. 

The Library continues to encourage patrons to use Curbside Service, telephone reference and the Library e-Branch to facilitate social distancing at the Library.  No programs will be offered at this time.
