"Bridge" Exhibit by Diana Blaisure at Central Library
ARTIST DIANA BLAISURE SHOWS “BRIDGE” IN PHOTOGRAPHIC EXHIBIT
AND RECEPTION AT NEWPORT BEACH PUBLIC LIBRARY
The Newport Beach City Arts Commission presents an exhibition of exhibition of mono-prints by photographer Diana Blaisure at the Newport Beach Central Library through September 7, and a meet and greet with the artist on Wednesday, August 8 at 7 p.m. at the Central Library, 1000 Avocado Avenue, Newport Beach. Diana Blaisure will talk about her current exhibition, “Bridge,” and offer insight into how she developed her inspiration and photographic technique.
Diana’s exhibit explores bridges, not surprising considering her background as a City planner. She dabbled in creative photography for years, but it wasn’t until retirement that she began her formal studies of photography. She explains that she is attracted to the sculptural aspects of bridges, “the sweep of a curve, the geometry of the piers, the patterns of steel underneath the roadbed. More than a span connecting one access point to another.” She also points out, “Bridge also functions as a metaphor: linking analog and digital as I combine scanned water-color mono-prints with digital photography.”
The exhibition will be available for viewing through September 7 during Central Library operating hours, Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
